Mahsood Shah is a professor and Dean of Swinburne University of Technology, Sydney Campus. In this role, he provides overall leadership and management of the campus. Prof. Shah is responsible for the growth of the campus, development of new courses, staffing and resourcing, monitoring quality and standard, improving quality of student experience and other academic outcome measures. Industry and employer engagement and collaboration are also part of his role. Prior to joining Swinburne University of Technology, he led learning and teaching at several Australian universities including La Trobe University, Central Queensland University and University of Newcastle. Apart from leading learning and teaching, he has led international engagement strategy including international recruitment, third-party onshore and offshore delivery, partnership management, and building strong relationship with international stakeholders.

 

He is an active researcher also. His areas of research include quality in higher education, measurement and enhancement of student experience, student retention and attrition, student engagement in quality assurance, international higher education, and private higher education. Nine books and more than 100 peer reviewed papers in journals and conferences and collaborated with peers from more than 55 countries are published. He has also supervised and mentored many PhD students and early career researchers.

 

Apart from university experience, he has worked closely with more than 12 private higher education providers. He is in TEQSA Expert Register and he is also an external quality reviewer with international quality assurance agency in New Zealand, Hong Kong and Mauritius. He has also coordinated AACSB accreditation of a Business School.
